The FACULTY OF LAW, LASU, HOLDS ITS SESSIONAL SAL CONFERMENT CEREMONY

The Faculty of Law of Lagos State University (LASU) held its sessional conferment ceremony for the Senior Advocates of LASU (SAL) at the Students’ Arcade on Tuesday, 21st January 2025.

This ceremony, which has been a tradition of the Faculty of Law since its inception, was held in honour of exceptional students who have demonstrated proactivity, efficiency, intellect, and passion for upholding the image of the school. The individuals conferred were those who had participated in Moot Court, appeared in the Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) Court, represented the school in external competitions, attended a certain number of mock competitions, and met several other criteria.

The primary objective of this ceremony is to encourage consistent participation in competitions by the students of the faculty and to appreciate those who have represented the school in external events. It also aims to ignite and sustain the passion for advocacy among budding advocates.

The distinguished individuals conferred included David Akinwunmi, former President of the Student Advocates’ Association (SAA); Alimi Toheeb, LASUSU Legal Director; Johnson Ogundein, Head of Chambers, Faculty of Law; Muhammad Ghazal; and Ajakaye Ismail.

Also in attendance were notable individuals such as Makanjuola Hardee, President of the Court of Appeal and Head of Judiciary, LASU; Adeniji Abideen Olamilekan, Chief Judge; and Gbolahade Ezekiel, Justice of the Court of Appeal, who were present as attendees.

Makanjuola Hardee, the President of the Court of Appeal, mentioned that the judiciary is considering recommending a regulatory fee for all student lawyers and advocates on campus. This implies that all fees will be uniform, ensuring there are no irregularities.
